Course Overview

In this course, participants will develop a deeper understanding of the philosophy behind omniplatform as it pertains to public media and their station. The goal is that by the end of this course, participants will view their work through a new lens; instead of viewing themselves as platform-specific publishers, participants will view themselves as platform agnostic content creators.

Tom Dooley is a multiplatform producer and educator with expertise in digital content strategy, video production, photojournalism, and long-form documentary. He is a versatile public media professional specializing in training, coaching, navigating change, and developing effective digital workflows. Tom is a co-founder of Tailwind Collective, a consulting firm that helps public media organizations develop, navigate, and execute digital strategies while building capacity and training staff for the future. His career has taken him across five continents, always in pursuit of compelling stories. During his career he has been involved with nearly every level of production - behind the camera as a videographer, behind the computer as an editor, and supervising colleagues as a producer. He’s produced two nationally distributed feature documentaries and close to 200 short form segments for broadcast and digital which earned him two NY Emmy awards.
